I would love to call in a response to feeling depressed and anxious but I’m afraid I will get stage fright and sound like an idiot so I will respond here. Getting old is mostly a huge drag but there is one good aspect and that is perspective. In the early 80’s I was active in the “anti nuclear” movement. You have no idea how hopeless that felt. Then I heard a priest in the cause speak and he told about a first grade class he had talked to. He asked them if they were worried about nuclear war and most of the class raised their hands. Then a little girl raised her hand and she said “I’m not afraid because my mommy and daddy are fighting for peace and I think they’re going to win”. Well guess what? She was right. The Berlin Wall, which had been up my entire life, fell in the late 80’s. Obviously, discouraging things have been building back up over the past 30 years. I’m just here to say that things have looked utterly hopeless before but people working on the side of justice and peace made a REAL difference. The main thing giving me hope now is the sunrise movement and seeing people like AOC and Mayor Pete getting elected and being heard.
I think we’re going to win.✌🏻
