‘be the 1st to comment’?? there have been no comments about this show?? I must not understand the comment interface. … Anyway, I needed to express a response to this ‘Understanding Authoritarianism’ creation of Jay’s. Please, all listeners be aware: your skill-set for grasping the nature of this authoritarian moment in America will be significantly handicapped and/or disabled by the editorial authoritarianism evinced in Jay’s exceedingly subjective choices of show’s segments. One of the most important angles in the public debate on this topic analyses how the corporate Democratic Party’s fantastically inept leadership in reshaping and reorienting the DNC agenda to overwhelmingly be at the service of corporate leaders and the American oligarchy of big money political investors — that this is the most significant change in the political landscape that made a Trump administration possible. [keep in mind that, for generations, a DNC agenda was expected to be an alternative to the Republican Party’s — and for all things primarily economic, military, security, surveillance, et al., both parties now often compete to outdo each other in pleasing the oligarchy (who win either way, as they are the big money behind both parties now). I dont have time for the full elaboration, but, if you want to hear this analysis in detail - which is the most important political conversation going on in today’s U.S.- it is easy to find podcasts that dont consign them to oblivion as this one did. Really, the choice of segments for a show with this title for a podcast with this name, is not just ironic, but TRULY a disgrace to the effort of informing the electorate. (not to mention, hilariously hypocritical and dishonest)
