    Peter, as long as you continue to fail to understand and acknowledge the existence of structural racism and other structural forms of oppression you will continue fail to understand the movements against those systems. I recommend reading The New Jim Crow by Michelle Alexander before making your next comment on the subject.

    No, it’s not about “us” vs. “them”, or rather, it shouldn’t be. That tribalistic, collectivist thinking is only going to exacerbate the problem. Sterling and Castille are not “all black men”, they were individuals with their own unique backgrounds and identities. You are personally not responsible for what happened to them, nor is anyone else besides the cops that shot them. Besides, since when has holding another group in contempt ever made them want to be nicer to you as a result?
